The Visions program offers a two-year program to capable Secondary III students, who are having difficulty succeeding in the regular high school setting. The program stresses personal achievement and growth in a positive and supportive environment.
The program is designed to have students graduate with their high school leaving certificate and to prepare them for entry into vocational studies or CEGEP. The core courses are offered in addition to a range of elective courses, including work study.
Visions is a self-contained program; however, the course standards and the Ministry Exams are identical. Students are provided with a modified environment, not modified courses. There is no special designation on their report card.
The program can only accept a maximum of 28 students. This limit allows for smaller class sizes, and a 14:1 student–teacher ratio.
Why would a student want to apply to Visions?
- Needs a smaller instructional environment with less distraction
- Is too shy and that gets in the way of success
- Wants to graduate but without making a real change realizes that it may not happen
