Core courses are:
Secondary IV and V:
- History / M.R.E.
- Phys. Ed.
The following courses are mandatory within the Visions program:
- Study Skills / Personal and Social Skills
- Home Economics
- Vocational Studies (Work-Study program)
Other courses are offered based on student’s schedules and abilities.
The courses are completed in semesters. The semesters are divided into two terms each. For example, Students taking History 414 will receive lessons from September to January. In January, Students will write the History Exam. Should students not be successful, then they have the opportunity to write the exam again in June, although the there are no History lessons offered after January.
Upon completion of the program students will potentially have accumulated enough credits to graduate and be eligible for entry into vocational studies and CEGEP.
What is the schedule like?
The start of school, recess, lunch and dismissal are at different times than at Riverdale High.
Access to the school cafeteria is permitted during Visions recess and lunch, although many students choose to use the Visions facilities to make their own lunches, either by paying into the food program or bringing their own food to school. In the Visions area there are two microwaves, and a stove for this purpose. Most students choose to stay within Visions for their lunch break.
